Bio

Chief Warrant Officer 5 David F. Cooper enlisted in the Army in 1985, and attended Warrant Officer Flight School the following year. As an AH-64 Apache pilot, 6th Cavalry, Fort Hood, TX, Cooper flew combat missions during Operation DESERT STORM. Four years later, he volunteered for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), completed Green Platoon, and transitioned to AH-6 Light Attack helicopters.

Cooper progressed from Fully Mission Qualified pilot, Instructor Pilot, Operations Officer, to Flight Lead in 1st Battalion, 160th SOAR. He deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq twenty-three times in support of the Global War on Terror.

Having been awarded a Silver Star in 2006, CW5 Cooper was the first Night Stalker to receive the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism as a Flight Lead during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM (OIF).

In 2007, CW5 Cooper was selected as the 160th Command Chief Warrant Officer, and at the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command (USASOAC) from 2011 until retirement in 2012.
