DUI Symbolism

The white chevron portrays truthful messaging wedging out the opposing propaganda symbolized by the silver and black checkerboard. The three lightning flashes refer to the unit’s lineage in World War II as the 3d Mobile Radio Broadcasting Company. The green base is the primary branch color for Psychological Operations. The yellow West African symbol for initiative and versatility represents the attitude of the members of the Battalion and indicates the geographical area of responsibility for the unit. The motto translates to “To Influence and Persuade.”

DUI Background

The distinctive unit insignia was approved for the 51st Psychological Operations Battalion effective 16 October 2011. It was amended to change the unit designation to the 7th Psychological Operations Battalion effective 16 October 2011.

Constituted 24 December 1943 in the Army of the United States as the 3d Mobile Radio Broadcasting Company

Activated 29 December 1943 at Camp Ritchie, Maryland

Inactivated 25 November 1945 in Germany

Disbanded 31 December 1989

Reconstituted 3 December 2009 in the Regular Army and redesignated as Headquarters, Headquarters and Service Company, 51st Psychological Operations Battalion (organic elements concurrently constituted)

Battalion redesignated 14 March 2011 as the 7th Psychological Operations Battalion

Activated 16 October 2011 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina
