DUI Symbolism

Jungle green is the color traditionally associated with Psychological Operations units. The Sgien Dubh knife, known as the Scottish “hidden knife” signifies the Group’s readiness in time of war. The three rivets on the knife handle indicate the 1st, 5th and 9th Battalions within the Group. The lightning bolts suggest the swift transmission of ideas and information. The shofar, an ancient musical instrument made of a ram’s horn, denotes the broadcasting capabilities of the unit. The enflamed torch conveys enlightenment. The colors of the insignia, green, silver, white, black and red, combines to represent the colors of the tartan swath of the Psychological Operations Regiment which demonstrates the service members’ dedication to their profession.
