Private First Class Roy D. Brown, Jr., of Buena Park, California, died of wounds received in action on 20 December 1989, while supporting Operation JUST CAUSE in Panama.
Brown enlisted in the Army in October 1988 and completed his Infantry One Station Unit Training, Airborne School, and the Ranger Indoctrination Program, all at Fort Benning, Georgia. PFC Brown reported to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment in March 1989, and attended the Advanced Demolitions Course at Fort Benning.
Following a nighttime airborne infiltration, PFC Brown was mortally wounded as his squad advanced on an enemy position near Rio Hato Airfield, Panama. He was assigned to Company A, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at the time of his death.
