CPL James M. Cavaco

Corporal James M. Cavaco, of Forestdale, Massachusetts, died on 3 October 1993 while supporting Operation CONTINUE HOPE in Somalia.

Cavaco enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1991 as an Infantryman. He completed Infantry One Station Unit Training, Airborne school, and the Ranger Indoctrination Program before joining 3rd Battalion. 75th Ranger Regiment. CPL Cavaco graduated from the Ranger Course in 1993.

CPL Cavaco deployed with Company B, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment to Somalia two months later as part of Task Force Ranger. He was fatally wounded on 3 October 1993 during the Battle of Mogadishu, Somalia.
