SFC Earl R. Fillmore

Sergeant First Class Earl R. Fillmore, of Blairsville, Pennsylvania, died on 3 October 1993 while supporting Operation CONTINUE HOPE in Somalia.
Fillmore enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1983 as a Combat Medic. He completed the Special Forces Qualification Course at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 1985, earning the designation of Special Forces Medical Sergeant. Over his career, he served with the 7th Special Forces Group and then as a Special Operations Team Member.
SFC Fillmore deployed to Somalia in August 1993 as part of Task Force Ranger. During the Battle of Mogadishu, SFC Fillmore was fatally wounded by small arms fire. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Special Forces Command, at the time of his death.
