Chief Warrant Officer Four Raymond A. Frank, of Monrovia, California, died on 3 October 1993 while supporting Operation CONTINUE HOPE in Somalia.

Frank began his military career in 1966 as an enlisted soldier, serving as a UH-1 helicopter repairer and door gunner during the Vietnam War. He transitioned to the Warrant Officer Corps in 1974 and attended flight school, ultimately becoming an MH-60 Black Hawk pilot. Over his career, he served in various aviation assignments before joining the160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, in 1990.

CW4 Frank deployed to Somalia in August 1993 as part of Task Force Ranger. During the Battle of Mogadishu, CW4 Frank’s MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter was struck by a rocket propelled grenade. He died in the ensuing crash.
