Staff Sergeant Ricky L. Robinson died on 14 April 1994 while supporting Operation PROVIDE COMFORT in northern Iraq.

Robinson served one enlistment in the Army National Guard, during which he completed the Special Forces Qualification Course, earning the military occupational specialty 18D, Special Forces Medic. He transitioned to active duty in 1991 and was assigned to Company A, 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. He deployed to Turkey in support of PROVIDE COMFORT in 1991.

SSG Robinson was performing duties as a Medic on a UH-60 helicopter when it was accidentally shot down by friendly fire north of Irbil, Iraq. He was assigned to Company A, 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group at the time of his death.
