MSG Jefferson D. Davis

A native of Tennessee, Master Sergeant Jefferson D. Davis was killed by friendly fire on 5 December 2001 when B-52 ordnance struck his position north of Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Davis enlisted in the Army as a Medical Specialist in 1984 and served in Korea for three years. After graduating from the Special Forces Qualification Course, Davis joined the 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He participated in Operation DESERT STORM and other contingency operations.
Davis served as a Senior Instructor at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, before returning to the 5th Special Forces Group.
MSG Davis was a Team Sergeant with 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM at the time of his death.
