Staff Sergeant Troy J. Westberg of Lacrosse, Wisconsin, died on 12 March 2001 of wounds sustained in training accident in Kuwait.

Westberg began his career in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1989 before entering active duty in 1993. He completed the Special Forces Qualification Course at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, earning the military occupational specialty 18D, Special Forces Medic.

SSG Westberg was serving as a Medical Sergeant with Headquarters Company, 3rd Special Forces Group at the time of his death.
