Born in Springfield, Missouri, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Stanley L. Harriman was killed on 2 March 2002 by friendly fire from an AC-130 aircraft during Operation ANACONDA in Afghanistan.
Harriman enlisted in the Army as a Combat Engineer in 1986 and served with 307th Engineer Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He deployed to Operations DESERT SHIELD/STORM in Iraq, and Operation UPHOLD DEMOCRACY in Haiti.
In 1991, Harriman attended the Special Forces Qualification Course and joined 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg. In 1998, he attended the Warrant Officer Basic Course and returned to 3rd Special Forces Group. He was an assistant team leader with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM at the time of his death.
