Born in Huntsville, Alabama, Corporal Andrew F. Chris died on 25 June 2003 of wounds sustained in combat in Iraq.
Chris enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in 2001 and completed Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training, the Basic Airborne Course, and the Ranger Indoctrination Program at Fort Benning, Georgia. In 2002 he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia, and in 2003 graduated from the Army Ranger Course.
CPL Chris served as a rifleman, grenadier, and machine gunner with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. His unit was in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM at the time of his death.
