A resident of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Bruce E. Price was fatally wounded on 15 May 2004 when his vehicle was struck by small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades during a combat patrol in southern Afghanistan.
Price enlisted in the Army in 1986 and in 1992 volunteered for Special Forces. After graduating from the Special Forces Qualification Course at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, he served as a Weapons Sergeant. In 1998 he graduated from Warrant Officer Candidate School, Fort Rucker, Alabama, and the Special Forces Warrant Officer Basic Course at Fort Bragg. He was then assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg.
CW3 Price was assigned as an Assistant Detachment Commander in 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM at the time of his death.
