A native of Bellingham, Washington, Corporal Jonathan J. Santos died 15 October 2004 from an improvised explosive device in Karabilah, Iraq.

Santos enlisted in the Army in 2001 as a Psychological Operations Trainee. He graduated from the Psychological Operations Specialist Course in 2002 and was assigned to 9th Psychological Operations Battalion, 4th Psychological Operations Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

CPL Santos had deployed to Haiti in March 2004 as a member of a three-man tactical Psychological Operations team. He was deployed with 9th Psychological Operations Battalion at the time of his death during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
