CPL Patrick D. Tillman

A California native, Corporal Patrick D. Tillman was killed in a friendly fire incident on 22 April 2004 while on patrol in southeastern Afghanistan.
Following the terrorist attacks of 9/11, Tillman put a successful career in the National Football League on hold and enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman. Signing up as a Ranger Trainee, he completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. After completing the Basic Airborne Course and the Ranger Indoctrination Program, he joined 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Lewis, Washington. He deployed in support of both Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. In 2003 he graduated from the Army Ranger Course.
CPL Tillman was serving in 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at the time of his death.
