A native of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Staff Sergeant Christopher M. Falkel died 8 August 2005, when his unit was conducting combat operations near Deh Afghan, Afghanistan, during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Falkel enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in October 2001 and completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia.

SSG Falkel graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course in June 2003 and was assigned as a Weapons Sergeant to 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he served until his death.
