MAJ Gregory J. Fester

A native of Westerville, Ohio, Major Gregory J. Fester died 30 August 2005, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his position in Al Iskandariyah, Iraq, during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
In March 1984, Fester enlisted as an Administrative Specialist in the Ohio Army National Guard. On graduating from the Ohio State University in 1987 he was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer.
MAJ Fester completed the Civil Affairs Advanced Course in 2001 and was assigned as a Civil Affairs Officer supporting the 322nd Civil Affairs Brigade, U.S. Army Reserve, until his death.
