A native of Pompano, Florida, Sergeant Kip A. Jacoby died 28 June 2005 when his MH-47 Chinook helicopter was struck by a rocket propelled grenade near Jalalabad, Afghanistan.

Jacoby enlisted in the Army as a Heavy Lift Helicopter Repairer in October 2002. He completed Green Platoon in 2004 and was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.

SGT Jacoby was serving as an MH-47 Crew Chief in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM at the time of his death.
