A native of Los Molinos, California, Sergeant First Class Allen C. Johnson died 26 April 2005 when his unit was attacked during a combat patrol in Khanaqin, Afghanistan, during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
Johnson enlisted in the North Dakota Army National Guard in 1980. In 1986, he was commissioned in the North Dakota Army National Guard as a Combat Engineer Officer and assigned to 141st Combat Engineer Battalion, Jamestown, North Dakota. He also served in multiple Armor assignments in the Washington Army National Guard. He transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve in 1987 and, in 2005, he was assigned to 402nd Civil Affairs Battalion, based in Tonawanda, New York.
SFC Johnson was assigned as a Medical Sergeant to 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, at the time of his death.
