A native of Los Molinos, California, Sergeant First Class Allen C. Johnson died 26 April 2005 when his unit was attacked during a combat patrol in Khanaqin, Afghanistan, during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Johnson enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in October 1991 and completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, before assignment to 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Lewis, Washington. In 2002 he graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course.

SFC Johnson was assigned as a Medical Sergeant to 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, at the time of his death.
