Formerly of Lexington, Kentucky, Sergeant First Class Lawrence E. Morrison died 19 September 2005, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Taji, Iraq.
Morrison enlisted in the Army as a Medical Specialist in May 1979 and completed his Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He served in a variety of active and reserve assignments before being assigned in 2005 as a Medical Sergeant for a Civil Affairs Team.
SFC Morrison was deployed in support of the U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
