A resident of Haddon Heights, New Jersey, Captain Charles D. Robinson died 3 June 2005 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Ground Mobility Vehicle near Orgun-e, Afghanistan.
On graduating from Cedarville College in Ohio, Robinson was commissioned as an Infantry Officer. His first assignment was with the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course in December 2003.
CPT Robinson was assigned as a Detachment Commander to 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Forth Bragg, North Carolina, until his death during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
