Born in Sudan, Staff Sergeant Ayman A. Taha died 30 December 2005, when enemy ammunition being prepared for demolition exploded in Balad, Iraq.

Taha enlisted in the Army in August 2002 as a Special Forces Candidate and completed Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training, and the Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, Georgia. A native Arabic speaker, he graduated the Special Forces Qualification Course in January 2005.

SSG Taha was assigned as an Engineer Sergeant in 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he served until his death during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
