A native of Shelbyville, Indiana, Sergeant Jeremy R. Wright died on 3 January 2005 from wounds suffered by an Improvised Explosive Device near Asadabad, Afghanistan.
Wright enlisted in the Army in 2001 under the Special Forces Candidate Program and attended Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training, and the Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, Georgia. He graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in July 2004.
SGT Wright was assigned as a Communications Sergeant to 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Fort Lewis, Washington, where he served until his death in Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
