SFC Mickey E. Zaun

A native of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Sergeant First Class Mickey E. Zaun died 28 January 2005 from non-battle injuries sustained in a vehicle accident near Mosul, Iraq.

Zaun enlisted in the Army as a Chemical Operations Specialist in August 1995 and served in the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. His first Special Operations assignment was with the 10th Special Forces Group, Fort Carson, Colorado, from 1999 to 2001.

SFC Zaun returned to Special Operations in March 2003. He served as a Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Operations NCO with the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, until his death in Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
