A native of Diamond Bar, California, Staff Sergeant Edwin H. DazaChacon died 13 February 2006, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle north of Deh Rawood, Afghanistan during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

DazaChacon enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in March 1990. In 1997, he left active duty for the National Guard, but reenlisted in the Regular Army in 2005.

SSG DazaChacon was assigned as a Special Operations Team-Alpha (SOT-A) team leader in April 2005 to 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, where he served until his death.
