A native of Pico Rivera, California, Master Sergeant Emigdio E. Elizarraras died 28 February 2006, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle north of Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan, during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
Elizarraras enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in 1986 and completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia.
MSG Elizarraras graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course in 1998 and was assigned as a Special Forces Intelligence Sergeant to 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he served until his death.
