SGT Alberto D. Montrond

A native of the Republic of Cape Verde, Sergeant Alberto D. Montrond died 13 February 2006, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle north of Deh Rawood, Afghanistan.
Montrond enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Quartermaster Specialist and Chemical Equipment Repair Specialist in July 1998. He served with 307th Forward Support Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, until 2002, when he joined 528th Special Operations Support Battalion.
SGT Montrond was assigned in 2004 to Group Support Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM at the time of his death.
