MAJ Jeffrey R. Calero

Originally from Puerto Rico, Major Jeffrey R. Calero died on 29 October 2007 in Kajaki, Afghanistan, while supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, Calero was commissioned into the Infantry in 1995. He completed the Special Forces Qualification Course in 2001.

MAJ Calero was assigned to 1st Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group, Fort Payne, Alabama, when he was killed by an Improvised Explosive Device while he was on a dismounted patrol.
