A resident of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Sergeant Major Bradly D. Conner died on 9 May 2007 near Al-Hillah, Iraq, when he suffered fatal wounds from an Improvised Explosive Device.
Conner enlisted in the Army on 24 June 1987 as an Ammunition Specialist. After Basic Combat Training at Fort McClellan, Alabama, and Advanced Individual Training at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, he joined the 515th Ordnance Company, Redstone Arsenal. In 1993, he graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He served as a Medical Sergeant in the 10th Special Forces Group, Fort Carson, Colorado.
At the time of his death, SGM Conner was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Fort Lewis, Washington, supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
