A native of Rootstown, Ohio, Corporal Benjamin C. Dillon died on 7 October 2007 in northern Iraq while supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

Dillon enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in 2004. After graduating from Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training, and Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia, he completed the Ranger Indoctrination Program.

CPL Dillon was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia, when he suffered fatal wounds from small arms fire after insurgents attacked his unit.
