A native of Niagara Falls, New York, Sergeant Steven C. Ganczewski died on 16 November 2007 in Balad, Iraq.

Ganczewski enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in 2003 and completed Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training, and Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia. In 2004, he graduated from the Ranger Indoctrination Program.

SGT Ganczewski was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia, when he was fatally wounded in combat while supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
