SPC Ryan C. Garbs

A native of Edwardsville, Illinois, Specialist Ryan C. Garbs died on 18 February 2007 in southeastern Afghanistan while supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Garbs enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in 2005. After completing Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training, and Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia, he joined the ranks of the Rangers in 2006.

SPC Garbs was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia, when the MH-47 Chinook helicopter in which he was riding crashed during combat operations.
