A native of Manhasset, New York, Sergeant James J. Regan died on 9 February 2007 in northern Iraq.
In 2004, Regan enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman and completed Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training, the Basic Airborne Course, and the Ranger Indoctrination Program at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment and had previously deployed twice to Afghanistan and once to Iraq.
SGT Regan was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia, when he sustained wounds from an improvised explosive device while on combat patrol in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
