A native of Canton, Ohio, Sergeant Nicholas A. Casey was killed on 27 October 2008 in Baghlan, Afghanistan, from wounds suffered from an Improvised Explosive Device.
Casey enlisted in the Air Force in July 2004 and he transferred to the Army in February 2005 as a Human Intelligence Collector. He was assigned to 163rd Military Intelligence Battalion, 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas. In July 2008 he joined 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
SGT Casey was serving with the Military Intelligence Detachment, 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM when he was killed.
