A native of Rowlett, Texas, Specialist Thomas F. Duncan III, died 9 June 2008 near Sinjar, Iraq during combat.

Duncan enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in 2006. He attended Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training, the Basic Airborne Course, and the Ranger Indoctrination Program at Fort Benning, Georgia, before being assigned to 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Lewis, Washington.

SPC Duncan had served as a machine gunner, and grenadier in 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, when he died while supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
