SSG Justin R. Whiting

Staff Sergeant Justin R. Whiting died on 19 January 2008 south of Mosul, Iraq, when he sustained wounds from an improvised explosive device.

Whiting enlisted in the Army as a Special Forces Candidate in 1999. He graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 2000.

SSG Whiting was assigned as a Medical Sergeant in 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, when he died during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
