A native of Tampa, Florida, Staff Sergeant Jason S. Dahlke was killed on 29 August 2009 in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, during combat operations. He was supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Dahlke enlisted as an Infantryman in the Army in May 2004, and after graduating from the Ranger Indoctrination Program at Fort Benning, Georgia, was assigned to 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. After serving as a team leader and squad leader, he moved to Battalion Reconnaissance Platoon.

SSG Dahlke was serving as a squad leader in 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment when he was killed on his sixth combat deployment.
