SFC Shawn P. McCloskey

A native of Hudson, New York, and longtime resident of Peachtree City, Georgia, Sergeant First Class Shawn P. McCloskey was killed on 16 September 2009 in Ghur Ghuri, Afghanistan, by an improvised explosive device.

McCloskey enlisted in the Army in January 2002 as a Special Forces Candidate. After graduating from the Special Forces Qualification Course in May 2004, he was assigned as an Engineer Sergeant to 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

SFC McCloskey was serving as an Intelligence Sergeant with 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces, and was on his third combat deployment when he was killed during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
