CPL Ryan C. McGhee

A longtime resident of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Corporal Ryan C. McGhee was killed in combat on 13 May 2009 in Central Iraq.

McGhee enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in August 2006 and completed his Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training and the Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, Georgia. He graduated from the Ranger Indoctrination Program in February 2007 and was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia. He served as a rifleman, grenadier, and team leader during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

CPL McGhee was assigned as an automatic rifleman in 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment when he was killed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
