SSG Matthew A. Pucino

A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Staff Sergeant Matthew A. Pucino was killed on 23 November 2009 in Pashay Kala, Afghanistan, by an improvised explosive device.
Pucino enlisted in the Army in 2002 as a Special Forces Candidate. After graduating from the Special Forces Qualification Course, he was assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He later left active duty and joined the Maryland Army National Guard.
SSG Pucino was serving as an Engineer Sergeant with Company B, 2nd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group, Glen Arm, Maryland. He was on his third deployment when killed while supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
