A longtime resident of Waterville Valley, New Hampshire, Specialist Marc P. Decoteau was killed on 29 January 2010 in Wardak Province, Afghanistan, when he was shot by an Afghan interpreter.
Decoteau enlisted in the Army as a Psychological Operations Specialist in 2008. Following Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, he was assigned to the 6th Psychological Operations Battalion, 4th Psychological Operations Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
SPC Decoteau was assigned to the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan, when he died in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
