A native of Kensington, New Hampshire, Sergeant Andrew C. Nicol died 8 August 2010, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device while his unit was conducting combat operations in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Nicol enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in July 2006. He served for three years with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia.

SGT Nicol graduated from the Ranger Indoctrination Program in March 2007 and was assigned as a rifleman and team leader to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, where he served until his death.
