SGT Anibal Santiago

Born in Puerto Rico, Sergeant Anibal Santiago died on 18 July 2010 from injuries sustained while conducting combat operations over mountainous terrain in Khowst Province, Afghanistan.

Santiago served in the U.S. Navy from 1991 to 1995. He enlisted in the Army in 2007 and completed his Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, and the Basic Airborne Course, at Fort Benning, Georgia. Following graduation from the Ranger Indoctrination Program he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia.

SGT Santiago served with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment as a sniper and sniper team leader during deployments to Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM.
