MSG Jared N. Van Aalst

A native of Laconia, New Hampshire, Master Sergeant Jared N. Van Aalst died 4 August 2010, of wounds sustained while his unit was conducting combat operations in Konduz Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Van Aalst enlisted in the Army as a Signal Support Systems Specialist in August 1995. After completing his Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, Georgia, he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning, Georgia.

MSG Van Aalst was selected as a Special Operations Team member in 2008 and assigned to United States Army Special Operations Command where he served until his death.
