A native of Tollesboro, Kentucky, Specialist Christopher S. Wright died 19 August 2010, when he was struck by enemy small arms fire while his unit was conducting combat operations in Konar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Wright enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in June 2005. He served for four years with 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, Fort Lewis, Washington and 1st Battalion, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany.

SPC Wright graduated from the Ranger Indoctrination Program in June 2009 and was assigned as a rifleman and squad automatic rifleman to 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, where he served until his death.
