A native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Private First Class Christopher A. Horns died 22 October 2011, of wounds sustained from the detonation of an improvised explosive device while his unit was conducting combat operations in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Horns enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in July 2010. He served for one year with 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

PFC Horns graduated from the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program in 2010 and was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He was serving as an automatic rifleman at the time of his death.
