A native of Houlton, Maine, Sergeant First Class Aaron A. Henderson died 2 October 2012, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device while his unit was conducting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Henderson enlisted in the Army as an Administrative Specialist in 2000. After completing his Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, he was assigned to 24th Transportation Battalion, Fort Eustis, Virginia.

SFC Henderson graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course in 2006 and was assigned as a Special Forces Communications Sergeant to 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he served until his death.
