A native of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Sergeant Patrick C. Hawkins died 6 October 2013, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device while his unit was conducting combat operations in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
Hawkins enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in February 2010. He served for three years with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia.
SGT Hawkins graduated from the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program in September 2010 and was assigned as a rifleman and team leader in 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, where he served until his death.
