SSG Timothy R. McGill

A native of Ramsey, New Jersey, Staff Sergeant Timothy R. McGill died 21 September 2013, of wounds sustained from enemy small arms fire while his unit was conducting combat operations in Paktia Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

McGill enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2001. He joined the Rhode Island Army National Guard in 2008 and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 200th Infantry Regiment.

SSG McGill graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course in August 2011 and was assigned as a Special Forces Weapons Sergeant to 2nd Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group, in Middletown, Rhode Island, where he served until his death.
