SPC Cody J. Patterson

A native of Philomath, Oregon, Specialist Cody J. Patterson died on 6 October 2013, from an improvised explosive device while his unit was conducting combat operations in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Patterson enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in January 2012. He served for three years with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia.

SPC Patterson graduated from the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program in November 2012 and was assigned as a rifleman in 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, where he served until his death.
